We are thrilled to announce that we'll be reissuing *three* wonderful Jeff VanderMeer books - and they are all due to publish in paperback and ebook in May this year! We are really excited about this, Jeff being such a hugely talented and award winning author / editor/ anthologist/ columnist/ everything (!) and you can see fabulous new cover visuals for the reissues below.
When approaching these designs, what we wanted was a look with a real ‘modern classic’ feel to it. I think our designers and agency Crush Creative have fulfilled the brief and more. The covers are atmospheric and beautiful, perhaps reminiscent of antique photos, but without attempting to summarize these writing gems with a a scene or character from the book. Have a look, below...
CITY OF SAINTS AND MADMEN
In the city of Ambergris, a would-be suitor discovers that a sunlit street can become a killing ground in the blink of an eye. An artist receives an invitation to a beheading – and finds himself enchanted. And a patient in a mental institution is convinced he’s made up a city called Ambergris – imagined its every last detail – and that he’s really from a place called Chicago. Ambergris is a cruelly beautiful metropolis – a haven for artists and thieves, for composers and murderers. And once there, anything can happen.
This collection includes the World Fantasy Award winning novella, The Transformation of Martin Lake.

Finally, haunted by Nicola’s sudden, mysterious disappearance and gripped by despair, Shadrach, Nicola’s lover, embarks on a mythic journey. He must steel himself to visit the nightmarish levels deep beneath the surface of the city, to bring his love back to light. For these depths hold perils that are both complex and chilling.
